I want to be clear that this isn’t some theoretical legal disagreement I have with the president,
Children would be forced to live under the threat of deportation, the fear, anxiety and trauma of that alone is enormously detrimental to their mental and emotional well being,
I have one message for President Trump: I’ll see you in court,
Birthright citizenship is a cornerstone of our democracy,
Birthright citizenship is guaranteed in our Constitution and is absolutely central to what America stands for,
Our members, who come from all over the world, have created vibrant communities, loving families, and built this country over generations. To deny their children the same basic rights as all other children born in the United States is an affront to basic values of fairness, equality, and inclusivity,
It's going to have a huge impact on our immigration system because it's going to close loopholes that exploit birthright citizenship, and discourage illegal immigration and end the misuse of this really, this completely misinterpreted privilege,
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."
I welcome this lawsuit because we have to get this into the U.S. Supreme Court. It's probably going to take several years for this to wind its way through the court system. But we want the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on this and give us a final ruling, because it has been misinterpreted."
It's ridiculous. We're the only country in the world that does this with birthright, as you know. And it's just absolutely ridiculous. But, you know, we'll say we think we have very good grounds. Certain people have wanted to do this for decades,
I expect the Trump administration to face substantial pushback from the courts when it takes illegal actions that are properly challenged in court,
We will sue imminently, and I have every confidence we will win,
Donald Trump plans to try and end birthright citizenship via executive order. He can't. The 14th Amendment is very clear on this, as is Supreme Court precedent."
Talk of rescinding birthright citizenship is just that: Talk. Presidents can't rescind it, because the Constitution expressly guarantees it. The Constitution's text reflects a basic American principle: Being born here comes with citizenship. Any executive order won't survive the court fights."
It is really important that it's a vision of citizenship based on land rather than blood. It is an idea that anyone can be an American if they commit themselves to our Constitutional values."

I'm sure pretty much everything that this president does is going to be challenged by somebody in the courts,
But the fact is, when we've had over 20 million people enter our country illegally in the last four years, we have been trying to figure out how to use the courts to actually protect our citizens. So yeah, I'm optimistic [that Trump will prevail],
And, you know, you've got [Rep.] Elise Stefanik[, R-N.Y.,] right now who's about to speak for her nomination hearing. You have very strong members … former members, current members, people from the previous Trump administration — you've got really strong people now that are being nominated for Cabinet positions to be able to partner with this president,
