Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on Thursday urged the U.S. Supreme Court to deny President-elect Trump's latest bid to halt his sentencing in his New York hush money case.
His lawyers turned to the nation’s highest court on Wednesday after New York courts refused to postpone the sentencing by Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over Trump’s trial and conviction last May on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.
That leaves the US Supreme Court as likely the president-elect’s last option to prevent a sentencing hearing from taking place as scheduled on Friday, just 10 days before Trump is set to take office on January 20.
Trump has denied wrongdoing.
