Four fires grow, forcing more than 80,000 evacuations around L.A.

The blaze destroyed about 1,000 structures, including many expensive homes built between the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, and forced thousands to flee with new evacuation warnings issued for Malibu.

Horrifying visuals of the Palisades Fire caught attention as about 30,000 residents acted upon the evacuation orders, and the fanned blaze threatened over 13,000 structures.

The Palisades Fire began at 11:04 a.m. southeast of Palisades Drive and has grown to 200 acres within an hour, with no containment reported.

Exceptionally dry conditions and strong Santa Ana winds have fueled the dangerous fires in Los Angeles.
