On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders,
Trump got elected on a commitment to make life better and more affordable for Americans, and I think people south of the border are beginning to wake up to the real reality that tariffs on everything from Canada would make life a lot more expensive,
Here’s the thing: they haven’t committed an offense until they’ve crossed into the United States. So our focus for the past few months, actually the past year and a half, has been on arresting and prosecuting the smugglers,
If it comes to Alberta or Quebec, that is their choice. They believe in diplomacy, good luck,
I don't want this to happen, but my number one job is to protect Ontario, Ontarians and Canadians as a whole, since we're the largest province,
I believe, after a conversation last night, we have a unified strategy,
The imposition of tariffs by the U.S. would be a significant failure on the part of the federal government. To protect workers, we need a full ‘Team Canada’ approach. That means that the federal government needs to do better engaging with premiers as it deals with the threat of tariffs with regular meetings with the prime minister and whoever is on his team that takes a role on U.S. relations,
Well, that’s OK. That’s fine.”
Today has been an important reminder of how critical it is that premiers work together. No matter what’s happening (in) Ottawa, all of us premiers will remain united as ‘Team Canada’ to provide steady and stable leadership during these uncertain times,
I think we all are, but again, this is a time for the premiers to step up — which we’re going to — and project unity across the country,
With a new administration taking office in the United States, it's never been more important for Canada's premiers to work together to protect Canadian jobs and build up stronger partnerships on both sides of the border,
Where we differ, I was speaking very clearly for Ontario, and I still speak for Ontario,
As for the federal government, there's a lot of stuff going on up there right now, so I'll leave it at that, but I can assure you that the premiers will take a very big role on the negotiations,
I think it's critical the premiers take a bigger role, because it's going to affect each province and each territory and we'll definitely be taking a bigger role,
The only thing that you do is that you are pushing people to risk it,
There's a lot of talk around whether or not we would enhance technological capacity at the border. There's a lot of talk around increased patrolling. But all of that so far, I think, serves first and foremost to show that we're taking seriously the border,
Even if we were everywhere, we couldn't stop it,
People can still hop over them,
We have a very important activity to undertake to make sure that we give confidence to the U.S. that we have an immigration system that they can manage for,
These migrants are coming 72 feet from our bedroom window,
