We will not be backing down from our response tariffs until such a time as the unjustified American tariffs [on] Canadian goods are lifted,
My expectation is the president will come to the agreement today, and hopefully we will announce this today, that U.S.M.C.A.-compliant goods will not have a tariff for the next month, until April 2,
After speaking with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, I have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay Tariffs on anything that falls under the USMCA Agreement. This Agreement is until April 2nd,
I did this as an accommodation, and out of respect for, President Sheinbaum. Our relationship has been a very good one, and we are working hard, together, on the Border, both in terms of stopping Illegal Aliens from entering the United States and, likewise, stopping Fentanyl. Thank you to President Sheinbaum for your hard work and cooperation!"
Canada has done an enormous amount, they’ve offered us an enormous amount of work on fentanyl and so is Mexico,
That aligns with some of the conversations that we have been having with administration officials, but I'm going to wait for an official agreement to talk about Canadian response and look at the details of it,
So if you think about it this way, if you lived under Donald Trump's US-Mexico-Canada agreement, you will get a reprieve from these tariffs now. If you chose to go outside of that, you did so at your own risk, and today is when that reckoning comes,
This is a day where the United States stopped seeing trade as force for mutual benefit, and began seeing it as a tool of economic warfare,
We are glad to see an American president take aggressive action on ending the free trade disaster that has dropped like a bomb on the working class,
A fight with Canada will have no winners,
The political ramifications of it were probably as big or bigger than the economic ones,
There is going to be significant disruption to regional economies,
Tariffs are about making America rich again and making America great again, and it is happening and it will happen rather quickly,
We’re sitting on a lot of a lot of projects that we can’t otherwise do as a result of just the threat of the tariff,
Trump’s trade war will seriously hamper U.S.-Canada relations and severely upend North America’s highly integrated production and supply network, possibly with lasting impacts on both economies,
Leaving this agreement or allowing it to expire will have a very damaging impact on millions of American workers and families,
With 25 per cent tariffs, it blows a complete hole in the trade agreement,
It’s likely that it will cover all USMCA-compliant goods and services, so that which is part of President Trump’s deal with Canada and Mexico, are likely to get an exemption from these tariffs,
Canadians think the U.S. is no longer a reliable trading partner,
Justin Trudeau is using the tariff problem, which he has largely caused, in order to run again for prime minister”.
